For Him: 10 Valentine Gift Ideas

It’s that time of year again, when love is in the air grand gestures are on the mind and wallets are expected to take a hit. Valentine’s day. Maybe it’s me, but I feel like time and time again we’re expected to prove your love and appreciation to your partner by securing the perfect gift. One that matches your partner’s love language, shows how well you know them and was effortless to secure. Or you subscribe to the other theory, stick with the classic’s flowers, chocolate, and jewellery.

Notice that those suggestions don’t really work for the men in your life. I’ve always found it amusing watching women shop for the men in their life for Valentine’s Day. For many the stakes seem ridiculously high, and the pressure is on to show that you know what he’d like without him dropping hits or having to outright ask him. On several occasions I’ve had to help friends come up with something thoughtful, unique, and totally non-cheesy.

So, whether you’re celebrating a long-term romance, a treasured friendship, or starting something new this Valentine’s Day I put together a list of items to treat the special guy in your life. My suggestions are the perfect gift for your father, brother, boyfriend, husband, or that promising Hinge match you started seeing. And best of all these items are under $100!

Coffee Table Book $35 - $80 on Amazon

This one is impossible to mess up. If you know anything about the guy in your life, there’s a coffee table for him. Whether it’s cars, photography, or travel a hardcover coffee table book is a great option that’s usually under $100. There a great conversation starter and will help give his space an elevated vibe. My current wish list includes:

-       Illustrated Black History: Honoring the Iconic and the Unseen

-       Gordan Parks: A Harlem Family

-       The Incomplete: Highsnobiety Guide to Street Fashion & Culture

-       The New Luxury: Defining the Aspirational in the Age of Hype

Custom Couples Portrait $58 on Esty

Now, usually I’m not a big fan of corny couples’ photo, but if you’re going do it than you might as well make it interesting. A custom couple’s portrait is cute without being cheesy. Capture a special moment in a unique way that’s different from the rest. The artist I found of Esty offer 3 – 7 business days for delivery.

Love Coupons $36 Amazon

This one is quite possibly the easiest to create, love coupons. If you're working on a budget, do something different and design a series of coupons that he can redeem at any time. However, if you’re not the craftiest person Amazon has a deck that you can order. 20 romantic vouchers to choose from, he'll appreciate this gift throughout the year.

MagicWood Personalized Wood Magic Box $40 Etsy

I chose this one for the little guy in your life, plus these boxes are just adorable. Whether it’s words of affirmation or just a reminder that they are loved the MagicWood Box it’s perfect for your son. It works as a fun night light illuminating the room with positivity and reassurance for any child.

Air Tags $39 Apple

Does your recipient often forget the whereabouts of their iPhone or other personal belongings? Then a pair of Apple AirTags is the perfect gift, mark an item as lost and a notification will appear on your phone telling you where it is. Now, if he’s a traveller and doesn’t have Apple AirTag… then I’m judging! AirTags have saved more holiday vacations this past holiday season than TSA (I’m kidding!) But seriously, this is one of the smartest investments to have for any trip that requires more than a carry on.

Engraved Wallet Card Insert $13 Amazon

This is one of favourite’s and I think it deserves heavy consideration. We all have little notes, or keepsakes from a spouse, parent, friend or child that we keep in our wallets. The only problem is that it’s usually on paper and will begin to wear away.  An engraved wallet card insert is a high-quality laser metal with various messages (either personalized or pre-printed) that he can keep forever.

Salton Mug Warmer $17 Amazon

Every coffee/tea drinker needs this in their home. A mug warmer is the ideal gift for the guy who can never get to enjoy his drink at the ideal drinking temperature. It also works as a candle warmer, that won’t cause a flame but warms the candle enough to release the fragrance in any space.

A GQ Box $50 GQ

A quarterly GQ Box is always the best starter gift for the guy trying to level up in his overall self care journey. This Valentine’s get him a GQ editor curated selection of grooming, apparel, accessories, and lifestyle. It’s a gift that you can make a yearly this with a full subscription.

Theragun Wave Solo $100 Therabody

There’s no way I could close out this list without something for the gym guy. The Teragun Wave Solo is an ultra-portable smart vibration therapy device that delivers pinpointed pressure and vibration to focused areas for reduced tension and improved movement. You’d use it in the same manner as a lacrosse ball for recovery. It has 3 frequencies and a easy to handle shape to work out any sensitive or hard to reach areas.

A Gift Card to His Favourite Store

Sometimes classics are there for a reason. If nothing on this list speaks to the man in your life go with a tried-and-true gift card to one of his favourite stores and let him decide. He’ll appreciate the fact that you tried and just weren’t sure what to get for the guy in your life that has everything.

I think you’ll bet set for a great Valentine’s Day with any of my suggestions. You'll find that most of these gifts can be delivered within 2 days or less. Just make sure that whatever you decide to go with, to include a card expressing how much you really care about the man in your life. But I’d love to know what you’ve planned for your Valentine’s Day. What did you get the special guy in your life? As always let’s keep the conversations going in the comments.
